Assembly #3274 History

It was April 25, 2010. Tony DiPietro DD #15 received an e-mail from Master Gordon Jefferes asking for the possibility of starting a new assembly with the members of District #15, including our new council, St. Mary Magdalen #14982. After contacting the 7 councils in the district, 6 agreed to be part of the new assembly; this was relayed back to Master Jefferes. He had a meeting with SK Albert Borzillo regarding the new assembly and the possibility of running for the 1st Faithful Navigator (he was the Faithful Captain of Chester County Assembly).  He agreed and offered his support to form the new assembly.

A steering committee was formed, which consisted of members from each of the 6 councils to come up with the format for the new assembly.

  • Mater Dei Council – Thomas Scanlon and Thomas Poore
  • St. Norbert Council – Albert Borzillo, Frank Shannahan and Pedro Sotorrio
  • St. Patrick Council – Patrick McGuigan and Frank Keegan, Sr.
  • St. Isaac Jogues Council – Joseph Monte and Jeremy Blackburn
  • Our Lady of the Assumption Council – GK Richard Roth, James Nardi and Richard Ise
  • St. Mary Magdalen Council – Angelo Siciliano

Our first meeting took place July 22, 2010, and we had one each month until December 2010.

The original name for the assembly was Tri-County Assembly. After some discussion, Frank Shannahan investigated the name Fr. Emil Kapaun and it was unanimously accepted by the committee. Pat McGuigan formulated our By-laws for the Assembly. Each representative of the councils went back to their members to transfer Sir Knights into the new assembly, and the knights transferred from Chester County and Cardinal Dougherty Assemblies.

On January 10, 2011, the Committee of Charters at Supreme approved the establishment of Fr. Emil Kapaun Assembly #3274, Paoli, PA. Our first Supreme roster came out January 25, 2011 with 108 members.
